Step #3: Join SLACK
If you haven’t done Step #1 or #2 go back there
All F3 groups all around the world use Slack for official communications, mumble chatter, and scheduling.
New to slack? See quick video introduction, or do a quick google search for something more your speed.
Slack tips:
PROFILE: put your F3 name BEFORE your hospital name in “Profile Name”. Parentheses help! Example: Jayhawk (Steven Johnson)
Use only your F3 name as your “Display Name”.
CHANNELS: Once you are in Slack, it is going to look empty, like nothing going on, like you think you are in the wrong place. But you aren’t. Look for “Channels”. If you are on the App, push the “+” sign and select “Browse Channels”. If you are on the web, click the 3 stacked dots and select “manage” and “browse channels"
1st F, 2nd F, 3rd F and Mumble Chatter - we recommend you start with these 3 channels.
AO = workout names. By now, you should know the “workouts” are called AOs. Every AO has its own Channel. We HIGHLY recommend you add the channels for the AOs you attend.
PUSH NAVIGATION. Add the slack app to your push notifications, I recommend “persistent” (for iOS users). If you are on Android, you’ll have to figure that out on your own.
HARD COMMIT. Use the “Hard Commit” button on the AO pre-blasts in the 1st F channel. That tell the Q you plan to be there and the accountability is in place.
The rest will come naturally. Ask a site Q or a fellow pax how to use the other tools to sign up for Q’s and look at the schedule
If you already use Slack, when you add the F3NA channel as a workspace, please use these recommendations to customize the profile for this workspace…. this will have no impact on your other workspaces.
Once you sign up, the welcome page will provide more information on how to use Slack.
Welcome to the Gloom!
